How to Get Fat: It’s All About the Fuel and (What Your Body Does With It)

Intended Audience: Teenagers, adults, students and non-students

Abstract: Obesity is epidemic in our country. Two thirds of our adult population and 25% of our children are considered obese or overweight. How could this happen with all the low fat diets and recommendations? This presentation discusses what the body does with various types of food, how to enhance the use of fat for fuel, and how to enhance digestion and absorption of nutrients.

About the Speaker: Gina Liberti, MS, DTR, MS ED, adjunct faculty, Science, is Dietetic Technology Registered. She earned a BA in Special Education from Jersey City State College, Jersey City, NJ; an MA in Education from Hunter College, New York City, NY; a DTR from Rockland Community College, Suffern, NY; and an MS in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport, Bridgeport, CT.
