RCC President’s Retirement Celebration to Raise Funds for Students
May 4 event is open to the public

RAMAPO – Even as he prepares to retire as President of Rockland Community College, Dr. Cliff L. Wood is still thinking first about RCC students. At Dr. Wood’s insistence, his retirement party will double as a fundraiser aiding a unique initiative to support student success.

The event, titled “Investing in Students: Their Success is Our Success,” will take place May 4 on the RCC campus. All funds raised through the event will go to the Herbert Kurz President’s Student Support Fund. This fund provides an avenue for RCC, at the President’s discretion, to alleviate financial concerns so students have the resources that they need to excel academically and personally.

To date, the President’s Student Support Fund has distributed more than a million dollars. Over 1,100 students have been helped by this initiative.

Tickets to the event are $100 and can be purchased online at or by check or cash. In addition, event sponsorships are available, which include advertisements in a commemorative journal. Sponsors should sign up by April 24 in order to ensure their inclusion in the journal.

For further information about the event, contact Elizabeth Kendall at 845-574-4269 or

Dr. Wood is retiring in June after more than 13 years as RCC President, and nearly half a century working in higher education. He has received numerous awards during his time in office and is the second-longest serving President in the history of the College.
