November 14: Jeffrey Deskovic – Wrongful Conviction
free and open to the public

RAMAPO: Jeffrey Deskovic has done several inspiring and powerful daytime presentations at Rockland Community College, and this will be the first opportunity to hear him speak at an evening event. In 1990, when he was just 17, Deskovic was wrongfully convicted of the rape and murder of a high school classmate in Peekskill NY. After serving 16 years of wrongful imprisonment, Deskovic was entirely exonerated through DNA evidence.

Since his release in 2006, Deskovic has become an inspiring public speaker and a strong advocate for criminal justice reform. He received a settlement for his wrongful incarceration, and in 2014 Deskovic created the Jeffrey Deskovic Foundation for Justice to fight wrongful convictions. He went on to earn his master’s degree in criminal justice from John Jay, and is currently attending law school at Pace University.
