Conferral of Professor Emeritus Status

Approved by the Board of Trustees of Rockland Community College on March 16, 1989. Amended on June 21, 2007.

The candidate for Professor Emeritus must be or must have been a Full Professor (either retired or deceased).

The nominations for Professor Emeritus will be made every three years by a nominating committee of five persons from among the full professors. The committee will choose their own Chairperson. (A candidate will be involved in the process only so far as there is a need for information.)

The Professor Emeritus shall be granted faculty privileges of an RCC email account, access to the College’s athletic facilities and access to library resources and services.

The nominees will be judged upon the following criteria:

  1. Length of service to the institution
  2. Academic leadership in the discipline
  3. Excellence in performance of assigned professional responsibilities
  4. Services contributed to the College, community, and one’s profession
