Keynote Speaker
Raja R. Amar

Raja Amar speaking at commencement Raja R. Amar has built the true American Dream. He immigrated from India in the late 1980s and started working at Beckerle Lumber. After settling in with his parents and marrying his high school sweetheart, Raj worked for Littman Jewelers and shortly thereafter got involved in the cellular communication industry. His first venture in cellular communications was a small cellphone store in Yorktown Heights, New York before going on to start his own company.

Portables Unlimited, Inc. was formed in the New York metropolitan area in 1999 as a local wholesaler for T-Mobile products and services. Currently headquartered in Nanuet, New York, the company grew through territory expansion and multiple acquisitions to become T-Mobile's largest wholesaler, with offices in Nanuet; Houston, Texas; and Los Angeles, California. Raj's focus has always been customer service and his employees, whom he calls "family." He believes that with outstanding customer service and a dedicated team, any business can be successful.

Raj believes in giving back to his community and supports several children's causes. He is also committed to the development of the Rockland County area. He is currently an active Board Member for the Rockland County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) & Montefiore Nyack Hospital. Raj sat on the retail advisory council for T-Mobile from 2006-2011.

Raj received all his formal education in India and currently resides in Stony Point with his wife Manju, his three children (Victor, Nicholas, and Christopher), and his mother.
