Nursing Admissions Criteria

Criteria for Admission into the Nursing Program

General Admissions and LPN to RN Pathway applications will be accepted by Nursing between February 1, 2017 & April 15, 2017 for the Fall 2017 class.

LPN to RN Pathway applications will be accepted by Nursing between August 1, 2016 & October 15, 2016 for the Spring 2017 class.

I. Matriculated Student

Students must be matriculated at Rockland Community College. To become matriculated, a student must have an active application on file with the College. To apply for admission to the College, please go online to www.sunyrockland.edu/go/admission.

 

II. College Level Placement in English and Mathematics

Students must be placed by the College at the ENG 101 and MAT 101 levels in order to apply for the Nursing Program.

Students who wish credits to be evaluated, must have an official copy of the transcript sent to:

Rockland Community College accepts eTranscripts from participating Colleges and Universities. All college eTranscripts should be emailed to etranscripts@sunyrockland.edu

Placement Exemptions

ACCUPLACER Tests

Students who DO NOT receive placement exemption or transfer credits for English and/or Mathematics, must take an assessment test. A schedule of test dates and study information can be found at www.sunyrockland.edu/go/assessment.

    • If the placement results for math are MAT 065, MAT 100, or MAT 101E this course(s) must be completed before applying to the Nursing Program.
    • If the placement results for English are ESL, ENG 082, ENG 092, or ENG 098 this course(s) must be completed before applying to the Nursing Program.

 

III. Nursing Pre-Admission Test (ATI TEAS)

To be considered students must receive Proficient or higher scores in all categories (Reading, English and Language Usage, Mathematics, Science) for consideration. Allocation of available seats in the Nursing Program is on a competitive basis based upon ATI TEAS exam results.

Students may register to take the ATI TEAS exam at any point in this process. Please go to www.atitesting.com/ctccteas/ and select a test location. For more information on the ATI TEAS exam and available study material you may go to www.atitesting.com/Solutions/pre-program/TEAS.aspx.

Students who have taken the ATI TEAS exam for entry to another nursing program, may submit examination results to Nursing at Rockland Community College. Test results must be dated within one year of application deadline date.
