Nursing Admission

Applications Accepted for Spring 2019 between August 1 and October 15, 2018

1. Apply to the College

2. College Level Placement in English and Mathematics

Students must place at the ENG 101 and MAT 100 or MAT 101 levels in order to apply to the Nursing Program. Establishment of placement levels may take place through any of the following methods:

  • Transfer credits: Students who wish to have credits evaluated should have an official copy of the college transcript sent to: Rockland Community College, Records and Registration, 145 College Road, Suffern, NY, 10901. RCC accepts eTranscripts from participating colleges and universities. All college eTranscripts should be emailed to
  • Placement exemptions: For information on placement exemption criteria, please go to
  • ACCUPLACER Tests: Students who do not receive placement exemption or transfer credit for English and/or Math, must take an assessment test. A schedule of test dates and study information is available at
  • If the placement result for Math is MAT 065, this course must be successfully completed before applying to the Nursing Program.
  • If the placement result for English is ESL or ENG 082, this course(s) must be successfully completed before applying to the Nursing Program.

3. Nursing Pre-Admission Exam (ATI TEAS)

The ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (ATI TEAS®) measures basic essential skills in the academic content areas of reading, mathematics, science, and English and language usage. Students must receive a minimum score of proficient (58.7% to 77.3%) on the TEAS exam in order to submit an application. Admission to the Nursing Program is on a competitive basis determined by ATI TEAS exam scores.

Students may choose to take the exam at any location where the ATI TEAS is offered. Information on available study materials is available at Exam results must be dated within one year of application deadline.

The TEAS exam is offered at RCC only to RCC students applying to the Nursing Program. Please go to for dates/times and to register fo the TEAS exam. ATI offers no refunds. Allow four hours for the exam.

Please Note: All accepted students into the Nursing Program are required to complete a background check before the first day of the academic semester.
