Why Study Chemistry?
Studying chemistry will enable students to understand ... Courses in chemistry provide students with a foundation for more specialized and advanced areas of study in a baccalaureate program. Upon completing the program, students will be prepared for transfer to a four-year institution where they can further their education in areas such as education, ecology, scientific or technical writing, health professions, or related areas.
Students interested in science often pursue the following degree programs:
Associate in Arts (AA):
The AA degree is recommended for students whose transfer plans require math and/or science, but who will be working toward other majors.
Associate in Science (AS):
The AS degree is recommended for students who plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or mathematics.
Meet our faculty
Many of our science faculty have done lab-based research and are able to bring that unique experience to our students. Our distinguished faculty of over 100 full-time and 400 part-time members includes numerous Fulbright Scholars, SUNY Chancellor’s Award winners and published authors. Average class size of 22 allows faculty members to work one-on-one with students.
