SPE 212 Speech for the Classroom Teacher

 

This course will explore the role of communication in the classroom. Areas to be covered will include: characteristics of the classroom communication process; elements of interpersonal communication; listening skills; nonverbal communication; techniques for selecting and implementing teaching strategies; interviewing techniques and communication barriers. Theory, participation and performance are required. The course is intended for the novice and the teaching professional. Students will develop proficiency in oral discourse as well as prepare, present and evaluate several presentations according to a set of established valuing criteria.
