SOC 230 Contemporary Social Problems in the U.S. and the World

"Social Problems in America and the World", will define what social problems are, who gets to define issues as problems, why they arise, and how different groups are affected by them as seen through the major sociological perspectives. The “politics” of solutions to each of these issues will also be analyzed. The course will focus primarily on the United States but will also look at global problems. Some of the topics will be families and work, drugs, prostitution, inequity, violence, health issues, and the environment.
