PSY 217 Psychological Approaches

 

Introduction to theoretical and practical aspects of learning and teaching. Topics include ingredients for successful tutoring, models from humanistic psychology with a major focus on the perceptual field of the helper and his/her understanding of the concept of “the self as instrument” in helping other people, and characteristics of the adult learner and strategies for facilitating behavior change. The course includes three credit hours of classroom instruction and five clock hours of a tutoring practicum in the Technology Center.
