PSY 216 Psychology of Mental Retardation

The study of mental retardates has a four-fold focus; the neurological, psychological, educational and social aspects of retardation which causes some individuals to function below the average of their peers but for whom there are community programs. It provides volunteer workers who because of their new association with the retarded have a need for orientation with practical background information. The application of behavior modification based on operant conditioning techniques is discussed thoroughly.
