PSY 106 Psychology of Parenting

 

This seminar, which includes fieldwork was designed to give parents, perspective parents, grandparents and those professionals who work closely with families an opportunity to expand their understanding of the parenting process. In preparing for weekly seminar topics, students are required to maintain reflective journals of their encounters and observations with children, as well as doing the required readings. Topics include determining realistic age-appropriate expectations for children, fostering effective communication skills, positive guidance techniques and perspectives on the role of adults in supporting self-esteem and competence in children.
