PHL 211 Six Great Thinkers

 

From Socrates to Sartre. Telecourse. A survey of the development of philosophy in western civilization through the writings of six major philosophers: Plato, Descartes, Hume, Hegel, Marx and Sartre. Each is considered in relation to his own culture and to ours as he influenced and stimulated debate on philosophical and social issues. Students view tapes and read selections from the works of these philosophers.
