LAN 101 Data Communications


A general introduction to current networking technology for local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN) and the Internet. Students will be able to identify the components of a LAN and determine the type of network design most appropriate for a given site. They will be able to identify the different media used in network communications and how to use them to connect servers and workstations in a network. Other areas covered include networking standards, protocols, access methods, network architectures and security of data.
