LSK 217 Peer Advisement: Theories and Counseling
In this course, students will be introduced to communication skills, human development theory, academic and career options at Rockland Community College, and interviewing and counseling approaches. The course will integrate theoretical elements of advising with role-playing and other experiential modes of learning. There will be 30 hours of total classroom instruction and 20 hours of advisement practicum. Upon successful completion of the course, students may be eligible to work as peer advisers under the auspices of the Student Services Department.
