HIS 100 History of Minorities, USA

This course deals with the interaction of various immigrant groups. The emphasis is on the extent to which each has achieved mainstream acculturation, through a historical chronology of problems encountered and solutions devised, if any. The contemporary situation of various groups is discussed with a view toward problems, which need future resolution. Students are encouraged to examine their own cultural values as the window through which they observe and judge new people, experiences and behaviors.
