GER 204 Introduction to German Literature II
Introduction to German Literature II is a one semester course. Students will be engaged in the reading and discussion of the important works of German literature, beginning with the period of “Storm and Stress” to present day literature, with background lectures on the linguistic, philosophical, social and historical changes that influenced the writers of each time period. Specifically, lectures and texts (supplemented by filmstrips or cassettes, where available) will cover excerpts from works of Goethe, Schiller, Kleist, Tieck, Gutzkow, Laute, Hebbel, Shifter, Hauptman, Mann, among others.
