ENG 221 Asian-American Experience: China & Japan
The Asian-American Experience is an interdisciplinary course that combines the distinctive and dynamic body of writing by Chinese-Americans and Japanese-Americans with a sociopolitical examination of their countries of origins the immigration experience and the attendant problems of adaptation, identity and assimilation. Students will read and discuss twentieth century novels, poems, plays and memoirs by Asian Americans and will do independent research on a theme or author from a sociological or literary perspective. A seminar format will be used.
