CRJ 217 Principles of Probation and Parole

An introduction to the history, philosophy and practices of probation and parole. New concepts have affected both the theory and practice of probation and parole. In community-based corrections, the justice model and determinate sentencing have affected how we respond to the need for public safety. The new reality of ‘truth in sentencing” and "three strikes and you're out" are today's realities. These issues serve as a basis for the discussion of probation and parole.
