ART 258 Art in Africa
An introduction to African Art in Africa. During their African journey, students will document the culture and landscape of the sub-Sahara. They will also study the artisans of Ghana and Zimbabwe, their methods of craftsmanship and aesthetic criteria, as well as their place in contemporary African culture. The history of African art will be made vivid by museum visits, and by observing the artwork in ceremonial and daily use. Participants will learn new techniques, and explore methods for documenting artist at work.
- Prerequisite: ART 130 or demonstrable equivalent photographic experience.
