Placement Testing

Exemptions from Testing
 
Exemptions from the Placement test are listed below. New RCC students must meet at least one of the criteria to qualify for exemption from the respective area(s). Scores older than three years cannot be considered for a test exemption.
Official copies of test scores must be submitted to Admissions. Please see the link below for the “Request for Waiver of the Placement Test” form and submit to Placement and Assessment.
 
Please note the following:
Some students who have been exempted from any part of the RCC placement testing process, but who are applying for federal or state financial aid, may be required to prove "ability to benefit" (ATB) through applicable sections of the RCC Placement tests.
 
Nursing and Occupational Therapy applicants have specific placement test requirements; students must contact the program they are interested in pursuing for more information. 
 
Students applying for Early Admission or 24 Credit GED Program must take the Placement test.

  • Algebra 2/Trigonometry 90
  •  A "C" or higher in a Calculus Course

 

Transfer Credit
Transfer applicants must have all official transcripts sent to Records before Placement Test requirements can be determined.
 
Exemption by prior testing
You may be exempt from placement testing if you have taken the ACCUPLACER placement test(s) at a college or university within the last two years.  The scores must be faxed directly from your school.  Our fax number is (845) 574-4397.
