Sam Draper Mentor/Talented Student Honors Program
The Rockland Community College M/TS Honors Program is nationally recognized for offering highly advanced academic pursuits in a community college setting and for preparing students to transfer successfully to Ivy League and Tier One four-year colleges. These top schools recruit M/TS Honors students because of the program’s reputation for producing students with proven ability in a rigorous academic program.
Requirements:
- A minimum of seven honors courses (including Philosophy 204: Processes of Thinking).
- Participation in a non-credit Transfer Procedures Seminar.
- English 910: Theories and Practice of Research.
- An independent study project or study abroad.
- A two-semester sequence in a laboratory science.
- Two semesters in a foreign language for liberal arts students whose academic emphasis is not science.
- Extracurricular activities (on-campus or off-campus) relating to the student’s academic program.
Eligible students will have an 1100 SAT score and high school grades that are 90 or higher.
An AA. or AS degree with Honors is awarded to M/TS participants who complete all requirements and maintain at least a 3.5 academic average with no semester average below 3.2. The degree with honors is noted both on the student’s transcript and on the diploma.
