CLEP (College-Level Examination Program) Information and schedule
CLEP tests are nationally standardized credit by exam tests recognized by most institutions of higher education across the nation. The College-Level Examination Program gives students the opportunity to receive college credit for what they know, by earning qualifying scores on the appropriate examinations. Before taking any credit by exam test, students should always consult with their counselor/advisor to insure that the test will support their degree plan.
The Office of Assessment and Placement can provide Rockland Community College students with a list of the examinations for which the college awards credit and the minimum score required by RCC for CLEP tests. Qualifying scores and the number of credits granted are determined by the individual academic disciplines. Please click on "CLEP Scores" in the navigation box.
Each college sets its own policy regarding which CLEP exams it will grant credit for and how many credits it will award. Contact an admissions officer or academic advisor at your institution to find out about their CLEP policy.

The College Level Examination Program is a computer-based test. As seating may be limited, it is important to register and reserve the use of a computer as soon as possible. If you register for a test and find that you will not be able to attend on the reserved date, call our office to cancel, you will need to start the registration process all over again. You may only take one test per day.
CLEP INSTRUCTIONS (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY)
- Complete the registration-admission form. Download the form below.
- Personal checks or cash are not accepted. Please choose one of the payment options listed below:
- Enclose in an envelope one non-refundable $25.00 money order (administration fee) per test payable to the RCC Association along with your registration-admission form and a $70.00 money order payable to CLEP.
- Enclose in an envelope one non-refundable $25.00 money order along with your registration-admission form and the CLEP fee can be paid by credit card (Visa, Master Card, or American Express) on the day of the test.
- Mail to: Rockland Community College, Office of Assessment and Placement, 145 College Road, Suffern, New York 10901
- If taking several tests, you may copy the registration form for each test.
- If paying by money order and registering for more than one test, do not combine fees. Each registration form requires a separate money order(s).
- You will receive a letter confirming the date of your exam which you must bring on the day of your exam.

THE DAY OF THE TEST
- You must bring two forms of photo ID. Acceptable forms of primary ID include: current driver's license, current state or federal photo ID card, current passport, tribal photo ID card, naturalization photo ID card or certificate of citizenship. Acceptable forms of secondary ID: current employee photo ID, current student photo ID, Social Security card, military photo ID, an unused ID from the primary choices.
- Bring confirmation letter.
- Be prepared with the name and address of the institution receiving your score.
- CLEP will mail score report directly to the score recipient you choose.
- Examinee will receive test scores after completing exam. If you take an exam with essay you will receive results usually one to three weeks after your test date.
WE WILL NOT RESERVE A COMPUTER FOR YOU UNTIL WE RECEIVE THE $25.00 (NON-REFUNDABLE) MONEY ORDER WITH YOUR REGISTRATION FORM PROPERLY COMPLETED.
Receipt of the forms at least two weeks prior to the test would be greatly appreciated. Availability of space cannot be guaranteed if the registration form is not received on time. Please call our office (845) 574-4525 or (845) 574-4288 if this presents a problem or for further information.
