There are many good reasons to begin your bachelor's at SUNY Rockland!
Over half of students who graduate from SUNY Rockland Community College continue their college education by transferring to four-year colleges and universities. Some of the reasons they cite for starting at SUNY Rockland are:
Affordability
SUNY Rockland students obtain an outstanding education at a fraction of the cost charged by four-year public and private colleges. SUNY Rockland's low tuition will save you 30-90% on the cost of a college education compared to SUNY four-year schools or private universities.
Small classes, experienced faculty
Class size at SUNY Rockland averages 18 students, with even fewer in labs. That means more personal attention for each student. And you won't get lost in a lecture hall taught by a novice graduate student. Courses are designed and taught by dedicated, experienced faculty members who are outstanding experts in their fields.
Easy transferability of credits
SUNY Rockland rates high among SUNY community colleges for transfer rate. To facilitate the transfer process, SUNY Rockland has established specific transfer agreements with both private and public four-year colleges. These agreements ensure that the credits you earn at SUNY Rockland will transfer smoothly to a four-year college in the degree program you choose. Under joint admissions programs, SUNY Rockland graduates are guaranteed admission to certain SUNY colleges. And the General Education (Gen Ed) courses you take at SUNY Rockland will be accepted at SUNY four-year schools.
Successful transfer depends on early planning. Visit the Student Development Center in the Technology Center for a complete guide to transfer services.
Graduates transfer to excellent colleges
SUNY Rockland enjoys an excellent reputation among four-year colleges. Our students successfully transfer to Ivy League, Tier I and other fine schools. Studies indicate that students who begin at community colleges and transfer are just as successful as those who enter four-year colleges as freshman.
