of Texas A&M University-Commerce
Dr. Wood is being honored for his contributions to education and to society as a whole. He has dedicated his career to community college leadership, serving in senior management over four decades at five institutions.
“All of us at Texas A&M University-Commerce are extraordinarily proud of Dr. Cliff L. Wood, and celebrate his induction as a Distinguished Alumnus. His many achievements exemplify the highest values to which our university aspires,” said Dan R. Jones, PhD, President of TAMU.
Dr. Wood has served as President of RCC since 2004, overseeing major growth in the College’s physical plant, enrollment and community involvement. He provides volunteer leadership to numerous organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Holocaust Museum & Study Center, Rockland Business Association and more. He serves as President of the New York Community Colleges Association of Presidents.
Dr. Wood earned his bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in psychology and education at Texas A & M University-Commerce. He and his wife, Wylene Branton Wood, a recognized community leader, are the parents of four adult children and have four grandchildren.
