Inline Editing
Unlike in previous version of plone, all you have to do to edit a document in Plone 3 is to click on any part of it. You still do have to "unpublished" the document but you won’t need to click on the Edit tab. That’s one less step!
WYSIWYG
In the current version, the editor looks different from the actual page making it hard to edit your article. In Plone 3, what you see is what you edit. This is no separate editing interface that looks and works differently from our site.
Link and reference integrity checking
Have you ever created a link to a file and after awhile it doesn't work because someone remove the object or vice versa? In Plone 3, it keeps track of all the movement of files and warns you of a potential link breakage if you decided to delete an item. It even tells you where the item is reference or linked.
No more simultaneous editing
Plone 3 locks the document you are editing to prevent others from editing the document at the same time. This prevents overwriting each other contents.
More control on who can access your content.
You can decide whether a user can add, can edit, can view, and/or can review your site.
Collections
Plone 3 comes with Collection, a dynamic product that allows you to create search results, reports and queries. It is basically a combination of Smart Folders and Rich Topic.
Table of Contents
If you have a long document, Plone 3 gives you the ability to create a table of content. It supports nested chapters based on the headers you already have in your document.
The Table of Contents is automatically generated based on the tags you use. To create the table, make use of header tags (h1 - h6) and p tag for the content.
User Dashboard
Plone 3 comes with a personal dashboard where you can add portlets that contain items of interest.
Upgraded visual HTML Editor
Improve WYSIWYG editor - extra text, image, and table styles built into the editor facility
More advance Search Tool
The Search function gives you the ability to search either the entire site or just within the section you are in.
