Documentation of the use of /go link
What is the "/go" link?
The "/go" link is a redirect tool that we used to help users get into a specific site on the RCC website without the need of typing the whole web address. Typically, web addresses are kept short but there are times that you cannot avoid having a long web address. So to help users, we use short meaningful aliases for long URLS. Thus the use "/go" link.
An example would be for the Business Entrepreneurial Competition, the current location is http://www.sunyrockland.edu/academics/academic-departments/business/business-department/entrepreneurial-business-plan. Typically, the longer the web address the easier for the user to make a mistake. To prevent this, we created a go link for the business competition which would be http://www.sunyrockland.edu/go/businesscompetition.
How can I have the "/go" link?
You can only have a "/go" link if:
- It’s for the purpose of promoting a department website
- It is for an event where you have to direct your audience to a particular section on the RCC site.
- It is for a current marketing campaign.
It cannot be use for:
- Personal sites
