How to allow visitors to comment on your pages

When you'd like visitors (who have accounts) to be able to add comments to one of your pages, but a Ploneboard is more than you need, try Plone's Discussion feature!

On any suitable Plone web page which you've already created:

  • Edit it, and near the bottom of the editing form (just above the "Save" button), set "Allow Discussion on the item" to "Enabled", and Save the change
  • Now, when you're logged in and visit that page, click the "Add Comment" button to see a new form
  • Fill in the form and click "Save" to add your comment
  • Your web page will now have the new comment visible at the bottom
  • You can also comment on other comments, creating a branching tree of commentary
  • Anyone who can view the page can see the comments, but only logged-in users can add new comments

Note: If you want to keep a discussion private, you can mark the page "Private" and share ownership with the other participants; or use Plone's Workgroup feature to create a private area to hold the page, and make that page "Visible to group".
