RCC E-Mail Password Guidelines

Your user name and password are the keys to access our computer system.

 
 

Your user name and password are the keys to access our computer system. An unauthorized person login with your user name and password not only has access to your data and files, but also has access to other resources and facilities in the system. This unauthorized person also has the capability to send email to others in your name and to do harm to our computer system as you. Therefore, it is very important to keep your account from accessing by others.

 

Choosing a hard-to-guess password and change it regularly will help preventing unauthorized person to access your account.

 

In general, a password

  • should be at least 8 characters
  • should include digits, upper / lower case letters (passwords are case sensitive)
  • should be updated regularly
  • should never be your name, a common name or digits (your SSN, birthday, etc.)
  • should never be a word in a dictionary
  • should never be shared
