Publicly-Available Mailing Lists on RCC List Server
To get a list of publicly-available mailing lists on RCC list server, go to the mailman web interface:
Click on a list name to get more information about the list, or to subscribe, unsubscribe, and change the preferences on your subscription.
Once you've determined which list you wish to subscribe to, go to the list information page:
http://list.sunyrockland.edu/mailman/listinfo
and click on the list name you want to join. You will need to fill out the form under "Subscribing to LISTNAME" and press the "Subscribe" button.
Once this is done, you will receive an email from the list server asking for "requesting confirmation". This is to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. Please follow the instructions given in the message to confirm your subscription.
Upon subscribing, you will receive a welcome message, containing your list password and some quick links. It also contains directions for unsubscribing. Please save this message for future reference.
Your original Welcome message contains the links and information on how to unsubscribe to a list. However, in most cases, you may simply send an email with the subject line "unsubscribe"
to : LISTNAME-request@list.sunyrockland.edu
You will be sent email "requesting confirmation", to prevent others from gratuitously unsubscribing you.
You can also go to the website to Unsubscribe from the list
http://list.sunyrockland.edu/mailman/options/LISTNAME
<>for example: <>http://list.sunyrockland.edu/mailman/options/testlst
** If you are on vacation and will not read your email for a while, you can temporarily stop mail delivery rather than unsubscribing. You can still access the list email archives since you are the list member.
When you subscribe to a list, you will be asked to setup a list password, or the system will assign a list password to you. The list password is used to verify your identity to Mailman. Your list password will be sent to you with the welcome message. If you forget your password, you can go to the list information web page and ask the list server to email the password to you (via your subscribe email address).
http://list.sunyrockland.edu/mailman/options/LISTNAME
press the button "Reminder" under the section "Password reminder"
If for any reason, you don't want list server to delivery email to your mail box, you can turn mail delivery off and access list email by going to the archives.
To enable/disable mail delivery:
go to the mailing list membership configuration web page by login with your email address and list password:
http://list.sunyrockland.edu/mailman/options/LISTNAME
for example:
http://list.sunyrockland.edu/mailman/options/testlst
Select "Disable" from "Mail delivery" to stop receiving mail
Select "Enable" from "Mail delivery" to start receiving mail
To see the collection of prior postings to the list, go to :
http://list.sunyrockland.edu/mailman/listinfo/LISTNAME and click "visit the LISTNAME Archives"

About the descriptions - words in "<>"s signify REQUIRED items and words in "[]" denote OPTIONAL items. Do not include the "<>"s or "[]"s when you use the commands.
