Home Screen
Menu or Home Screen:
Start by becoming familiar with the names of the various parts of the Datatel Menu or Home Screen.

Menu Bar

The menu bar enables you to perform routine tasks such as:
- Saving your work,
- Cutting and pasting items,
- Choose an application with which to work; for example, the Student System, Human Resources, etc.
- Choose a screen in which to work,
- Define your preferences for how screens are displayed.
Toolbar

The toolbar, shown above, provides easy access to common functions, such as saving your work, canceling changes, deleting records, and accessing online help.
Address Bar

The address bar enables you to access any screen directly by entering its mnemonic, or using the drop-down menu button to select a previously used mnemonic.
- Enter a specific mnemonic and click the Go button to display the selected screen OR
- Click on the down-arrow to select a previously used mnemonic, then click GO button.
Systems Menu Bar
The System menu bar enables you to minimize, maximize, or close the application workspace.
Selecting an Application

When the desktop workspace has opened, it displays which application you’ve accessed, (i.e. UT = Utility Application, CORE = Core Application, ST = Student Application, CF = Financial Application, HR = Human Resources Application). If you wish to change the application, click on the Apps option from the Menu bar, and select the application.
Note: The default application after installation is UT. Users will need to change this to the appropriate application such as ST, CF or HR.
The left panel of the application workspace displays the folders and processes available for the selected application in an expandable tree format.
Folder Functions
Folders contain items such as: other folders, screens (forms), reports, processes, and/or inquiry screens.
By clicking on the Plus Sign and expanding out the “tree”, these other options become available.
Once expanded out, the Plus Sign become a Minus Sign. To close a folder click on the Minus Sign
