A Guide to Transfer Agreements between Rockland Community College and Four-Year Institutions

What is a transfer agreement?
A transfer agreement is a document between a two-year and a four-year college that helps students transfer from one college to the other. Rockland has collaborated with several four-year institutions to plan the smoothest routes from our campus to theirs.

What is the purpose of an agreement?
Agreements enable students to plan ahead.  Colleges with whom Rockland has collaborated wish to attract our graduates.  They are familiar with our degree programs and course offerings and understand how they will combine with their programs and courses.

When should I start planning to transfer?
The earlier you plan, the more you ensure your chances for successful transfer.  Information contained in an agreement can help you decide which courses to select and which degree to pursue while you are at Rockland.

What kind of information will I find in an agreement?
Transfer agreements stipulate certain requirements you must meet while attending Rockland in order to guarantee junior status in the major of your choice, when you graduate and transfer to the four-year college of your choice.  Information stated in the document may include:

  • Rockland degrees and the parallel four-year programs
  • Minimum grade policies
  • Course prerequisites by major
  • Admissions procedure
