Testing Center
SUNY Rockland Community College and the staff of the Testing Center are committed to academic honesty and excellence.
The Testing Center provides testing services to students:
- make up missed tests.
- require special testing accommodations
- enrolled in RCC distance learning courses and Math 065
- took courses from other colleges and need a testing facility
The Testing Center opens a week after the start of classes in Fall and Spring semesters. It closes a day before the end of the semester and on college holidays when classroom lecture courses do not meet.
NOTE: Effective March 2007, you will be asked to sign a Test Center Policy Contract (pdf file:24K) before accessing Test Center services.
Test Center Code of Conduct:
- IDENTIFICATION:
Official Photo Identification such as a current Rockland Community College photo ID or a driver's license is required. - TESTING MATERIALS:
No books, notes, notebooks, or other materials allowed during testing unless listed on the "Test Instructions" given to the proctor by the professor. Students caught with materials not specifically permitted by the instructor will have these materials confiscated, and the incident will be reported to the instructor. The student is responsible for bringing pencils and other needed materials. Scratch paper will be provided by the proctor and must be turned in with the test. Calculators will be provided by Test Center Personnel. Students may not use their own calculators unless a scientific calculator is required. - SCHEDULING:
Once a test is handed to the student, it must be completed in that one sitting. Test Center Hours are posted. It is the student's responsibility to allow enough time for a test. Absolutely no communication with anyone other than Test Center personnel is allowed.
The student may discuss the subject matter of the test with the proctor to be sure the proper test is being given. Once that is done, the student will not be allowed to change tests. Once the student sees a test, it will be marked a completed test. - ELECTRONIC DEVICES:
The use of cell phones and pagers is strictly forbidden. All devices must be completely turned off; they may not be on vibrate or silence. They must be put completely away; they may not be accessed during the exam (even to check messages) or kept on the desk. Any use of an electronic device during a test will be considered cheating. This will be strictly enforced.
Failure to follow Test Center Policy or Test Center personnel instructions will be reported to the instructor and may be treated as an act of academic dishonesty. For more information, please consult the Student Code of Conduct, Section II, Academic Dishonesty.
...Cheating is not a victimless act. It victimizes individuals as well as society at large. Think about it, would you want to have surgery from someone who cheated his or her way through medical school? ...Cheating undermines integrity and fairness at all levels."
