Student Government Association
The Student Government Association is the official student voice of Rockland Community College’s student body. Comprised of 6 Executive Board positions, 10 sophomore senators and 10 freshman senators, the Student Government Association oversees the Student Activities budget of nearly $400,000 and represents the student body on a number of campus committees, such as the Safety and Security Committee, the RCC Association Board of Directors, and the Commencement Committee.
The Student Government Association are elected to serve one academic year. Elections for Executive Board members and Sophomore Senators are held early May. Freshman Senators are elected late September, early October.
Students interested in running for Executive Board Positions must have and maintain a 2.75 GPA and have completed 24 credits at the time of election. Those students interested in running for Sophomore Senate positions are required to have completed 24 credits and must maintain a 2.66 GPA at the time of elections. Freshman candidates are to have at least a 2.0 GPA and completed less than 24 credits. Student Government meetings are held every Thursday at 3:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Student Union.
