Thank You for your interest in joining our staff. The Rockland Community College Summer Program is looking for qualified camp counselors and specialist to work at our Sports Academy, Kids College and Baseball Academy camps. The summer camp program runs from July 7th to August 15th and you are expected to be at work each day. Camp will be closed on July 4th

General Qualifications

Applicants must have the passion to work with children. Must be energetic, enthusiastic, creative, industrious, punctual, and resourceful. Must be responsible and motivated. All applicants must submit a health form with immunization records. Those under the age of 18 will need working papers, which you obtain from your school. Candidate with prior experience as a camper, C.I.T or junior counselor at RCC summer camps or elsewhere is a plus, though not a requirement. Applicants MUST be able to work from July 7 - August 15.

 

Available Positions

Junior Counselor

The junior counselor will be required to:

  • Participate in all activities with their assigned groups.
  • Assists in assuring the safety of campers at all times.
  • Serves as a role model to campers by demonstrating high standards of personal conduct.
  • Follows all camp rules, procedures and routines.
  • Assists in leading group through daily activities.
  • Is willing and able to assume responsibility of counselor in event of absence.
  • Is flexible and realizes that needs of campers are foremost.
  • Assists with daily attendance.

Requirements:

  • Must be 16 or 17 years old and have completed grade 10.
  • MUST be available everyday from July 7 to August 15.
  • MUST be able to provide a diverse program schedule that is fun for the campers.
  • MUST have leadership skills and can relate well with campers.
  • Must have the passion to work with children.
  • Must be energetic, enthusiastic, creative, industrious, punctual, and resourceful.
  • Must be responsible and motivated.
  • Must attend the orientation in June.

Dance Instructor

The dance instructor will work with the Performing Arts director and vocal instructor to decide on dance routines for the performing arts camp. The instructor must be able to teach various dance routines from Broadway shows to campers from 2nd to 8th grade.

Responsibilities:

  • Choreograph six dance numbers for each of two three week sessions.
  • Work with a diverse camper population.
  • Must be available every week day from July 7th to August 15th
  • Must have leadership skills and be able to relate well with campers.
  • Must have the passion to work with children.
  • Must be energetic, enthusiastic, creative, industrious, punctual, and resourceful.
  • Must be responsible and motivated.

Acting Assistant

The acting assistant will assist the Performing Arts director in various acting exercises and activities. He/she must be able to deal with campers from 2nd to 8th grade.

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the performing arts director.
  • Must be able to handle responsibilities assigned by the director
  • Works well with a diverse camper population.
  • Must be available every week day from July 7th to August 15th
  • Must have leadership skills and be able to relate well with campers.
  • Must have the passion to work with children.
  • Must be energetic, enthusiastic, creative, industrious, punctual, and resourceful.
  • Must be motivated.

Afternoon Activites Instructor

RCC Summer Camps is looking for afternoon activities instructor to work during this year's summer camp for the following:

  • Digital Photography
  • Games
  • Sign Language

The instructor will have 2 hours each day to teach campers from 2nd - 9th grade the fundamentals and techniques of each activity. You will have 1 group per hour, 3-4 meetings per group for each session. The camp is divided into 1st session (July 7 - 25) and 2nd session (July 28 - August 15). Program for the first session must differ from the second session.

Requirements:

  • MUST be available everyday from July 7 to August 15 from 1:15pm - 3:15pm.
  • MUST be able to provide a diverse program schedule that is fun for the campers.
  • MUST have leadership skills and can relate well with campers.
