Sports Academy
Rockland Community College Summer Sports Academy is an instructional sports camp for girls and boys from grades 2 - 9 that offers the opportunity to learn, play and improve the sports they love while building camaraderie and enjoying the best summer of their life. The camp has been an institution since it started in 1973. A summer at RCC Sports Academy is the opportunity of a lifetime. Its goal is to improve individual skills through instruction and participation so that young people may successfully meet the growing competition in all phases of athletics.
The Program
Created and developed by Emil Willis in 1973, RCC Sports Academy offer various sport activities that cater to the campers.
Each day, campers will be expose to different sports namely basketball, volleyball, soccer, tennis, football, track, baseball, softball and lacrosse, allowing them to learn and practice specific skills to meet the growing competition in athletics and develop sportsmanship and team play through fun and spirited activities.
Campers will be grouped according to the grade to maximize learning and fun as well as satisfy their curiosity of other sports he or she hasn't tried before. Typical day at our sports camp starts at 9 AM where campers are brought to their first sport activity by their respective counselors every hour with lunch and swim period in between. An example of the camp schedule is shown below:

When it rains, it pours. But no worries, our Rainy Day Full Program includes soccer, swimming, basketball, baseball, tennis, softball and volleyball in our Eugene Levy Fieldhouse, the largest indoor camp facility in New York.
RCC sports academy covers most of the individual and team sports on the high school and college sports scene. We encourage the campers to participate in each sports as well as during skills competition and during league and tournaments. The camp is visited by at least 2 professional players each summer who give lectures about sportsmanship and athletic skills needed to gain success in sports. The campers will also have a chance to relax during their swim period where they have access to our olympic-sized pool. Truly, this would be a memorable experience for the camper.
