Baseball Academy
The Rockland Community College Baseball Academy offers each camper a baseball experience that they will treasure for a lifetime. The camp is open for boys and girls between grades 2 - 9. Its goal is to teach the fundamentals necessary to become a better baseball player while providing an atmosphere of sportsmanship and competitive spirit.
Each week, the campers are giving instructions in fundamentals of baseball such as :
- Hitting: Swing mechanics, bat control, mental approach
- Pitching:Proper throwing mechanics, pitch control, mental mechanics
- Fielding: Proper mechanics turning double plays, positioning
- Catching: Proper stance, blocking, throwing, bunts, pop-ups, game calling
Baseball Academy Staff and Facilities
Our Staff:
The staff of Baseball Academy is carefully selected and screened to ensure that only the best fit the main goals of the camp. Our staff is headed by Robert LaPolla, Manhattan College and Bridgeport University with the help of former professional baseball player Bob Molina. They are committed to the idea of making the baseball camp not just a learning place but also to ensure that our campers will have the best summer experience of their lives.
The Facilities:
Rockland Community College's Baseball Academy have taken pride in ensuring that our campers will still be able to hone their skills, rain or shine. The academy utilizes the two regulation little league fields and the Rockland varsity baseball fields.
The Equipment:
The academy equipment consists of batting machines, two hitting tunnels and a variety of aids to help develop skills needed to become a better player.
