Museum Docents
Volunteers are assigned to museums and other cultural institutions, including the Historical Society, the Stony Point Battlefield, Rockland Center for the Arts, the Holocaust Museum and Study Center and Solid Waste Management Museum. They may serve as Docents (trained guides and educators who serve as the link between the museums and public) or in other capacities. Docents may lead tours of the facility, help with exhibits or with special events.
These facilities offer unique learning opportunities that expand the boundaries of traditional schooling for children through interactive exhibits. Adults are reminded of historic events they learned about (or missed!) during their childhood.
