AARP is a membership organization leading positive social change and delivering value to people age 50 and over through information, advocacy and service. Resources on retirement, social security, medicare and aging; discounts on drugs, travel, insurance, financial services, and a wide range of unique senior benefits, special products, games, retirement calculator and services for seniors.
Foster Grandparents
Foster Grandparents are individuals age 60 and over who thrive on direct interaction with children and believe they can make a difference in their lives. Income-eligible Foster Grandparents receive a modest stipend to help offset the costs of volunteering.
RC Office for the Aging
Rockland County Office for the Aging has a primary goal of achieving a comprehensive and coordinated system of services for our 46,518 residents over 60 years of age. Securing and maintaining maximum independence in the home environment. Providing advocacy activities by and for the elderly.
Meals on Wheels
Providing much "more than a meal" to the homebound, seniors and others living in Rockland County through nutritional, recreational and social support programs.
National and Community Service
Created in 1993, the Corporation for National Service is a public-private partnership that engages Americans of all ages in service through three national service initiatives - AmeriCorps, which includes more than 600 local and national programs, AmeriCorps*VISTA, and AmeriCorps*NCCC; the National Senior Service Corps, which includes Foster Grandparents, Senior Companions, and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program; and Learn and Serve America, which provides models and resources for teachers integrating service into classrooms from kindergarten through college.

Senior Companions touch the lives of adults who need extra assistance to live independently in their own homes or communities. They serve frail older adults, adults with disabilities, those with terminal illnesses, and offer respite for caregivers.

VCS is a community-based social service agency that offers counseling for people from adolescence to older adulthood, community change initiatives and conflict resolution services.
Volunteer Opportunities
The National Senior Service Corps has a thirty seven year history of leadership in senior volunteer service. The Senior Corps is a national network of projects that place older volunteers in volunteer assignments in their communities.
