Habitat for Humanity

Building Character, Building Houses, Building Lives!

Habitat for Humanity of Rockland (HfHR) is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, an ecumenical Christian housing ministry. We are committed to helping provide affordable housing for local families. Membership and service is non-denominational.

Local Projects

  • Four new homes built in Spring Valley
  • Three new homes built in Hillburn
  • Homes for Heroes

Larger Community

We participate in Habitat projects outside the County and have made several trips to New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina.

How can we help you?

  • VOLUNTEER work on a project
  • DONATE funds, time, materials
  • JOIN and make a difference

Family Partnership

Habitat houses are a partnership between volunteers and future homeowners. Partner families are selected based on:

  • Need for housing
  • Ability to repay the loan
  • Willingness to dedicate mandatory “sweat equity”

A partner family dedicates at least 500 hours towards construction of their own home or other Habitat projects.

“The trip to New Orleans was an eye-opening experience that changed my perspective, working with people who really want to make an impact on the lives of others.
