RCC Grad Designs Special Lighting for TV and Movies

Mario Pignard Jr. '04, a highly specialized motion picture lighting technician, recently lit a Long Island field the width of three football fields for the set of Noah, a 2014 film starring Russell Crowe. “It was one of the biggest lighting set-ups in New York,” he says. “Lights are the very foundation of filming.”

Pignard credits RCC for starting him on his career path. “RCC helped open a lot of doors for me. It gave me a good understanding of pre-production, production, and post-production.” He assisted in what is now the Multi-Media Production Center.

Upon graduating with a degree in Communication Media Arts, Pignard transferred to the Academy of Design and Technology in Tampa Bay, FL, where he majored in film production.

Some of Pignard’s other movie credits include The Devil Wears Prada, The Amazing Spider-Man, Transformers 2, The Brave One, Fighting, I Am Legend, and The Wolf Of Wall Street.

Pignard lives in Garnerville with his wife, Eliana, and their two boys, Ayden and Collin.
