Awards
In addition to scholarships, the college's faculty recognizes students for their accomplishment in selected areas based upon established award criteria. Students selected to receive these awards are recognized during the Scholarship Awarding Ceremony held annually during the spring semester.
| Bruce Hoffman Literature Award |
| Recognizes a student in English 102 or a 200 level literature course who displays insight into and appreciation of literature in clear and cogent written analysis. |

| Henry Larom Awards |
| One prize for outstanding poetry. One prize for outstanding fiction. |

| John O’Connor Speech Award |
| Recognizes outstanding work of a student in one or more speech courses. |

| Maxwell Anderson Award |
| In memory of playwright Maxwell Anderson, through royalties from the Maxwell Anderson & New York Stage publication. The award is for an essay on literature. |
| Selection Authority: | RCC English Faculty |
| Criteria: | - Open only to RCC students.
- Two submissions allowed.
- Maximum 20 pages; no minimum length required, any literary topic- papers written for ENG102 or a literature course would be appropriate. Submission should be a clean copy, double-spaced with a separate title page with name, address and phone number. Papers may be Beacon submissions.
- Must submit a critical/analytic essay on a work of literature written while at Rockland.
- Winner may be a graduating student.
- Papers should be sent to Dr. Hazelton, Rm 2116
