GINA SCARDA

comedian: gina scarda

Announcing she was following up a career with the New York Police Department by becoming a stand-up comedian, Gina Scarda’s VERY Italian family thought she was insane, and attributed this planned career change to be part of a midlife crisis. They consider the time she used jarred “gravy” on her ziti as another symptom  of the crisis. Her unique life story - going from “Cop to Comedian” was featured in a Toyota commercial as part of their "gear shifters" campaign and has resonated with many people. She has been profiled on World News Tonight and the Today Show, and several publications including a feature in MORE magazine. Current projects include developing a TV show, tentatively titled A Recipe for Change, that will highlight other women who have recreated themselves in mid-life. This funny lady performs every chance she gets -  and has been making audiences laugh all over Long Island and NYC with her stories about work, marriage, and the many joys of being Italian.

MARY DIMINO

comedian: mary diminoWinner of an Outstanding Solo award from Fringe NYC for her critically acclaimed sold-out hit, Scared Skinny, Mary Dimino was also called "riotously funny" by The Wall Street Journal, and "utterly captivating" by NYTheatre.com. Her book, based on her original autobiographical solo show Scared Skinny No More, was recently released by Sunbury Press. She won a MAC Award winner for Outstanding Female Comedian, and the 2008 Gracie Allen Award for her PBS documentary, Fat, What No One is Telling You and was featured on NBC’s Today Show. Other TV appearances include The Chris Rock Show, Comedy Central, VH-1, American Movie Classics, New York Undercover, The Graham Norton Effect and on the Late Show with David Letterman and Conan O’Brien. A regular on the comedy club circuit, her engagements include Stand Up New York, Caesar's Palace, The Improv and The World Famous Laugh Factory. She is a comedy contributor for The Huffington Post and wrote and performed a new solo show, Big Dummy for the 17th Annual New York International Fringe Festival from August 9 through August 25 at The Players Theater Loft.
With special thanks to Slattery's in Piermont and to Howard Hellman '72 and comedian extraordinaire Regina DeCicco '98 for making the RCC Alumni Comedy Night arrangements.
