Those students who plan to pursue a bachelor's degree in math and/or science should pursue the AS in Mathematics and Science. This degree is recommended for those students whose transfer plans require college math and/or science, but who will be working toward other majors.
Students pursuing a degree in liberal arts and sciences are permitted to accumulate no more than sixteen credit-hours in any one discipline (for example: BIO, ENG or POL). Transfer students, or students changing degree programs, may not apply more than sixteen credit-hours in any one discipline toward a degree in the liberal arts and sciences. Note: ENG 101 and ENG 102 are not considered part of the English discipline.
I. English (6 Credits Required)
ENG 101 English Composition I (3 cr)
ENG 102 English Composition II p (3 cr)
II. Pluralism and Diversity (3 Credits Required)
PDA 101 Pluralism and Diversity in America (3 cr)
(or equivalent by advisement)
III. Social Science (6 Credits Required)
Select courses from the following codes: ANR, ECO, GEO, HIS, POL, PSY, SOC.
IV. Mathematics (6 or 9 Credits Required)**
Select MAT 102 or higher at the highest appropriate level by placement and advisement. (3 or 4 cr)
Policies toward granting credit for Math 102 vary among four-year colleges.
V. Science (8 or 11 Credits Required)**
Select courses at the appropriate levels from the following codes: BIO, CHM, ENR, PHY, SCI.
VI. Humanities (3 Credits Required)
Select courses from the following codes: ART, ARA, ASL, CHI, COM, ENG, FRE, GER, HEB, ITA, MUS, PER, PHL, RLS, RUS, SPA, SPE.
VII. Arts and Sciences (15 Credits Required)
Select courses from the following codes: ANR, ARA, ASL, ART, BIO, CHI, CHM, COM, ECO, ENG, ENR, FRE, GEO, GER, HEB, HIS, ITA, LSK*, MAT, MUS, PDA, PER, PHL, PHY, POL, PSY, RLS, RUS, SCI, SOC, SPA, SPE.
*NOTE: Only 6 credits of LSK courses may be counted toward a degree.
VIII. Unrestricted Electives (12 Credits Required)
Select any credit courses except Physical Education (At least one computer studies course is strongly recommended).
IX. Physical Education (3 Credits Required)

Note: PED courses earn Pass/Fail grades; REC courses earn letter grades.

** Special Note: All students must complete a total of at least five (5) courses in Mathematics and Science. Those following the Math sequence should complete three (3) math courses and two (2) lab Science courses. Those following the Science sequence should complete two (2) math courses and three (3) science courses, (two of which must be lab sciences).

If you intend to transfer to a four-year college, you should seek advisement as soon as possible. Faculty advisers in the academic disciplines or counselors in the Counseling Center can help you choose the appropriate courses. You should also consult the catalog and the admissions office of the four-year college to which you intend to transfer.
