Fitness Specialist Certificate Requirements

I. English, Social Science, Science, Humanities, Arts and Sciences, Unrestricted Electives, Physical Education (Not Required For This Certificate)

Although there is no specific English or mathematics requirement for this certificate, students must take the English and Mathematics assessments. In order to graduate, they must be assessed at ENG 101 (or higher) and MAT 101 (or higher) or receive a passing grade in the required English Skills or pre-MAT 101 course(s).

 

II. Concentration (25 Credits Required)

Students must take all of the following courses; check prerequisite requirements.

CHM 111 Human Nutrition or CHM 112 Science of Functional Nutrition (3 cr)
MGT 160 Sports Management or FIN 201 Entrepreneurial Finance (3 cr)
FIT 101 Concepts of Resistance Training (3 cr)
FIT 211 Applied Concepts of Fitness and Wellness (3 cr)
FIT 212 Introduction to Exercise Science (3 cr)
FIT 213 Fitness Counseling (3 cr)
FIT 273 Fitness Practicum (3 cr)

 

Choose:
SPE 101 Fundamentals of Speech or SPE 212 Speech for Classroom (3 cr)
REC 205 Community CPR & First Aid or REC 207 CPR for the Professional Rescuer (1 cr)

 

Total: 25 Credits
