Nursing Process IA

 
 

An introduction to the nature of nursing, the holistic nature of the patient and concepts of health. The nursing process, with its related skills of inspection, observation, obtaining a health history, completing a physical assessment, using a therapeutic communication, and health teaching, is presented as the basis of nursing practice. The nursing process is applied through the use of case studies and clinical experiences to meeting the basic needs of patients for nutrition, elimination, body defense and psychological regulation. Clinical experiences are focuses on the older adult in the community and long term care settings. Basic nursing skills are learned in the Nursing Skills Laboratory.

 

Prerequisite: NUR 103 (if clinical competency test not passed)

Pre or Co-requisite: ENG 101 and PSY 103

Hours: 6.5

Credits: 3.5
