Legacies of Women in America (cross-listed with SOC 227)
Legacies is an audio course on women and the family in the U.S., from 1607 to 1870. Each of eighteen half-hour audio programs covers a different topic in the history of women and families, with commentary provided by leading scholars in the field. A book written expressly for the course provides listening aids, background reading, primary sources, and assignments. The course emphasizes the diverse experiences of ordinary people as it examines changes in both the ideals and reality of family life.
