ASL 101

American Sign Language I

4 hours, 4 credits. Prerequisite: none. This is the first semester of a one-year introductory course designed for students who have no prior knowledge of American Sign Language. ASL 101 focuses on ASL grammar, core vocabulary, deaf culture and basic communication/conversational skills. Students will participate in group projects, interactive activities and videotaping. Class will meet for four hours a week for fifteen weeks.
