As part of the English Department at Rockland Community College, courses in English Skills help students develop skills they must have to succeed in college.  Courses in reading, writing, and combinations of both, have been designed to meet the individual needs of students.

Students are placed in English Skills courses  as a result of English assessments in reading comprehension and writing.  Students placed in English Skills courses have individual advisement and consultation by an advisor to determine a course of study.  Students remain in the English Skills classes until end of semester reassessment shows they are prepared to move into all mainstream college courses.
