Types of Courses:
The English department offers a variety of writing workshops (play writing , screen play writing, poetry writing, creative writing and fiction writing). It also offers opportunities to study the works of various ethnic groups and cultures including: British, American, Native American, Asian, African, African American, Latino/a, Five Families Across Cultures, Irish Literature, Latin American, Italian Renaissance, Urban, Spanish-Caribbean & Haitian. There are also special genres and topics including: Dramas in Britain, Literature and Film, Detective/Mystery Literature, Theories and Practice in Research, Literary England, Special topics in Literature, Journalism, Honors News Writing & Editing, Classic American Film Genres, Writing Practicum & Internship, Business Writing, Modern Drama, Modern Fiction, Shakespeare, Children’s Literature, Introduction to Short Stories, Gender Roles, Contemporary Urban, World Literature I & II, and American Values. The progressive department is constantly expanding its offerings. Depending on the course the credit load goes from two, three to four credit courses.
